Sellers Insight - "The house originally dates back to the early 19th century, but by the time we bought it fourteen years ago it had been pretty much rebuilt by the previous owners, so although it has a huge amount of character and charm, it's now most definitely a house for modern living," says the owner. "For us, the size of the house, its character and the superb condition it was in were all huge selling points, but over and above everything else, it was the idyllic setting that motivated us to move here. Our girls were very young at the time and we could see that living here would provide them with a really wonderful childhood with space to play and explore, they were able to keep ponies for a spell and we planted an orchard and cultivated vegetables in our large veg patch so we've all been able to live the good life.
The previous owners did a huge amount of work to the house and we too have enhanced it even further. We've increased its size quite dramatically, and in the process added two really lovely garden rooms that allow us to enjoy the spectacular outlook rain or shine and a gorgeous master suite that opens onto a large balcony. The house flows beautifully, it's light and bright throughout and the space we have meant that it's been great for both family life and entertaining.
The house is absolutely gorgeous, but I suppose it's the gardens and grounds and this stunning location that really sets it apart. We have paddocks, a manege and stables so it's ideal for keeping horses, and the garden itself is exceptionally beautiful. It's filled with an array of plants that create a riot of colour in the spring and summer months, and we've created lots of different places where we can sit out and relax and enjoy the view. We have a fantastic area for alfresco entertaining, but my favourite spot is one that catches the last glimpses of sun, and it's where my husband and I will sit with a cold G&T at the end of a long day - that's something I'm going to miss when we leave!
The end garden room is definitely my favourite. It's so beautiful. In the morning the sunlight pours in and when the doors are pushed back we can enjoy a cool breeze and a gorgeous view. It's heaven!
I really couldn't have wished for a more beautiful place to live. We're literally surrounded by natural beauty and it's so incredibly peaceful here. However, at the same time, we're just a fifteen-minute drive from Shrewsbury town centre so everything we need is close by.
As well as the spacious main house, we also have extra accommodation that adjoins the detached double garage. There's a large room and bathroom upstairs, and downstairs is another bathroom and a lounge with a kitchenette. We've used it as a home gym and as an overspill if we've had lots of guests, but it's incredibly flexible in terms of its use.
The children have flown the nest and so my husband and I feel it's time for a new chapter in our lives, and for a new family to fill this house and enjoy all that it has to offer," says the owner. "What will I miss? Absolutely everything about it; it's been a really wonderful family home."
